One of the common errors that occur during operation is the E20 error in the Electrolux washing machine. The reason for its occurrence is a failure of the dirty water drain system. This article will discuss the causes and methods of elimination.
Causes of error E20
In the Electrolux washing machine, the E20 error is displayed on the display and accompanied by a beep (twice). This error is designed to notify you that a malfunction has occurred in the water drain system. This means that the washing machine cannot drain the water and squeeze the laundry, or the sensor, which is responsible for giving the signal to the electronic module, about the start of draining the water from the tank, has broken.
Important: On some devices, this error may be displayed as code E21 or C2.
The error may be caused by the following problems:
- clogging in the drain pipe or hose;
- breakage or blockage of the drain pump;
- failure of the sensor responsible for the water level in the tank;
- in rare cases, it can be caused by a breakdown of the electronic board.

Error elimination methods
Before proceeding with the E20 error, first turn off the washing machine. Electrolux. After carrying out the above manipulations, unscrew the drain hose, and bleed all the water through it. Now you need to get all the laundry out of the drum, and going through the list above, start looking for an error.
Important: If, during your release of water, it leaked without any delay, then your siphon or riser could become clogged, or the pump could become clogged.
After checking the sewer system, we proceed to check the drain pump and filter mesh. Unscrew the part carefully and dismantle it from the body of the washing machine, then thoroughly clean it with a needle, and then rinse it under running water. In order to get to the pump of the Electrolux washing machine, you have to dismantle the back panel. To do this, you need to do the following manipulations:
- We unscrew the four self-tapping screws that fix the back cover.
- Remove the back cover.
- Disconnect all wires going to the pressure switch from the pump.
- Unscrew the pump fixing bolt in order to dismantle the part without any difficulties.
- The clamps on the drain pipe and hose must be released.
- Dismantle the pump.
- Disconnect a branch pipe from a tank with a liquid.
After performing all the manipulations, inspect and, if necessary, clean the pipe. You can clean the drain hose of the washing machine using a special cleaning cable.
Pump cleaning process
Prepare the following tools before starting the pump cleaning process:
- crosshead screwdriver;
- multimeter.
In order to clean the pump, unscrew the cover and check the impeller. Hair and woolen threads from things could settle on it. We carefully clean everything from debris and wipe it dry. With the help of a multimeter, we do a pump check for performance. To do this, apply the probes to the pump and monitor the resistance on the device screen. The working device should give a result in the region of 200 Ohm, in case of non-compliance with this value, we replace the pump with a similar new unit.
Tip: In order to subsequently easily assemble the machine and return all the parts to their place, we recommend that you shoot or photograph the process.
After replacing the pump, we start the washing machine in test mode, and monitor its operation. If, after replacing the pump, the error has not gone anywhere, we check the performance of the pressure switch and the wiring that connects the water level sensor with the pump and the electrical board. In most cases, the error is due to damage to the wires, and not the pressure switch itself. Error codes of the pressure switch are shown on the display as: E11 and E32.
If checking the pressure switch and the wires did not give any result, and the error still flaunts on the display, check the electronic module. This is a rather expensive and painstaking pleasure; not all craftsmen are ready to tackle this problem. However, do not be upset, this error is displayed quite rarely.
Output
After you have mistake E20 in the washing machine Electrolux no need to hurry. It is necessary to gradually check all the nodes, from the simplest to the most complex. If you haven't cleaned the drain for about two years, you don't need to disassemble the machine, just look into it, perhaps the whole reason lies precisely in this. If you follow all the rules of operating household appliances, use only automatic washing powder, use water softeners and conditioners, wash clothes in a bag, then you will never encounter this error.
