Modern washing machines only vaguely resemble their ancestors from the past century. If in the past they were mainly analog and could perform only mechanical functions, now each such electrical appliance is equipped with a minicomputer that controls the process, akin to how the on-board computer of a car monitors everything that happens.
Due to this, the washing machine with a malfunction simply displays an error code on the LED or LCD panel or on the display on the front of the machine, which makes it possible to understand what is wrong with it.
As a rule, each manufacturer has different codes and methods for indicating errors. Samsung washing machines use alphanumeric characters. These are probably the most common trouble codes or error codes used for Samsung washing machines. Most of them use the same methods to demonstrate that the appliance has a problem or needs a replacement part. These codes are used on later models from about 2006 onwards.
Error code H1 - a problem with water heating
For example, if the display gives an error H1, then there are problems with heating the water and you need to fix it to continue the normal operation of the device.
Depending on the region and year of manufacture of the "washing machine", this code can be designated as H1 or NO, which, in fact, is the same thing - problems with the heating element.
Before starting any investigation of the problem or even removing the lid of your Samsung washing machine, please read and understand this article carefully, paying particular attention to the safety instructions and information on this page, as it is extremely important.
So, as already mentioned above, according to the Samsung washing machine error classifier, the H1 code indicates a malfunction or malfunction of the water heating system with a heating element. What to do in this case?

Short circuit or break of TENA
The first thing to check in the Samsung washing machine, which gives an H1 error, is the operation of the heating element itself. Perhaps the wires were simply oxidized, and the contact disappeared, it could also burn out due to a voltage surge or some other factors.
To gain access to the heating element of Samsung washing products, you need to remove the front cover, since, unlike other washing machines, the Koreans have them in front, and also to dismantle the protective cover from the heating element.
Visually inspect the element for damage and oxidation of contacts. Make sure they are held securely and not loose. Then use a multimeter to diagnose:
- disconnect the wires from the heating element;
- measure resistance. If the display of the multimeter shows 1, further searches can be stopped, since it is burnt out. The reading at the level of 28-30 Ohm indicates the health of the heating element;
- also measure the resistance level on the wires that go out of the washing machine, the readings should be approximately the same, if everything is fine with the power. Large deviations will signal that the wire is broken. Also on our website you can read an article abouthow to check the heating element of a washing machine with a multimeter.
.
Obviously, if problems arise with wires or heating elements, repairs need to be carried out. Replacing the wire is quite simple, so it makes no sense to describe the list of actions in detail.
Replacing a heating element also does not require special skills:
- unscrew the nuts that hold it against the washing machine tank;
- with forward movements from side to side, carefully remove the heating element from the seat;
- we clean the contacts on the tank and the landing site from scale and other contaminants. A contact cleaner is best suited for these purposes;
- carefully unpack the new part and place it on the seat. At the same time, make sure that during installation do not shift or break the gum;
- tighten the fixing nuts and connect the power wires.
After all these manipulations, assemble the washing machine and turn on the test wash mode to make sure that the appliance is in good working order.
Broken temperature sensor
The appearance of the H1 error in the Samsung washing machine, as a rule, is associated with problems with the heater, its failure or contact closure. However, there are situations when the heating and its power supply are normal, but the error, nevertheless, still does not disappear.
In this case it is worth check temperature sensoror rather its type, used for Samsung washing machines, a thermistor. It is located directly on the heating element.
- remove the front cover and protective strip, as described above;
- in front of us there will be a black or gray plastic element located directly on the heating element;
- it is necessary to check the resistance with a multimeter, if the readings deviate from the norm, a replacement is needed. Working resistance is about 35 kOhm;
- disconnect the contacts from it and carefully remove it from the seat, then install the new thermistor in the reverse order.
Overheating protection tripped
The final cause of the H1 error on the Samsung washing machine is overheating protection. Such a nuisance may occur due to the fact that the sensor does not see the water level or is mistaken in the readings of the water temperature, considering that it is above 100 degrees Celsius. As a result, the built-in overheating protection function is activated.
Basically, such problems can arise due to a blown fuse on the heater. To solve it, you need to install a new fuse. Not very good news - as a rule, they are inseparable from the heater itself, so you will have to change the entire part assembly. The replacement mechanics are described above, so there shouldn't be any difficulties with this.
So, the reasons for the appearance and how to fix the H1 error are clear. It should be noted that its appearance is due, first of all, to poor-quality tap water with many impurities that settle on the heating element, forming scale. It follows that as a preventive measure, you can simply install a filter on the water entering the house and forget about this problem for a long time.
