Surely, having heard that dyeing jeans in a washing machine is real, many come to mind the famous "boiled" - a symbol of the era of the 80s. And there is a feeling that home coloring will give the effect of an uneven coating, and “torn”.
But, we hasten to assure you, you will not get such an effect (unless, of course, you yourself want to), since the technology of making "dumplings" involves whitening. And here we will talk with you about painting, in fact, paints.
Preliminary advice before staining
Before embarking on such a responsible business, you need to know about all the possible consequences. And be sure to follow these recommendations in order to avoid unexpected effects.
In general, we would advise you not to get excited, but to check the result on some old thing. It is easy to spoil it, but it will be impossible to wash the paint, if something does not work out.
So what you have to understand before coloring:
- Only cotton fabric, wool or linen is ideally dyed over, and the rest can simply be taken in pieces. Unfortunately, now there are often cases when the label states that it is 100% cotton, but in fact it turns out quite differently. Therefore, if you are not completely sure of the composition, try pre-dyeing a small piece of fabric, namely, from this product.
- You can paint only a well-washed thing, moreover, they put it in the machine when wet. Otherwise, the paint will be uneven.
- Paint cannot cover all the stains to the end. If your stain is much lighter than the main fabric, then it will be visible, in any case.
- Painting a white thing in black is unlikely to work. It will turn out to be dark gray at best. To achieve deep blacks, you need more than one paint job.
- You must understand that the painted thing will fade later. And it is not recommended to wash it in a machine, with other things, up to five washes. Only after that will it stop “getting dirty”.
- Synthetics are almost never stained, so that paint manufacturers do not write. But, there are rare exceptions, of course. Therefore, try on a piece of cloth to avoid a “patchy” result.
- The exact color indicated on the package comes out exclusively when you paint a white thing with it. If, you apply it to other shades, the result will be slightly different. But, on the other hand, the declared color scheme! In general, almost a roulette.
- As a rule, the threads used to sew the fabric are made of synthetics, since they are stronger and more durable. And be prepared for the main fabric to be dyed, and the threads will remain the same color. So, figure out in advance how they will be combined later.
- Never add conditioner during the painting process! The paint will stain.
- Rust stains are very difficult to color.
- Denim material is dyed on both sides

What effect to expect from different source colors
To list the entire color spectrum and possible shades, as you yourself understand, is simply unrealistic. There are a great many of them. And the result depends on the quality of the material itself.
Therefore, the only thing we can recommend to you is to familiarize yourself with the spectrum of color mixing. So that, at least, a little to understand what will come out in the end. As they say, he who is forewarned is armed! And then don't cry that you weren't warned when instead of blue, you get purple.
Step-by-step painting technology
Well, let's get down to the most important thing. You have already washed the item, it is wet. Now you must dilute the coloring composition, based on the recommendations of the manufacturer. Many manufacturers recommend adding a couple of tablespoons of table salt. If it says so, be sure to add it. If not, then this is not necessary, but they did not forget to write.
If you do not need to mix with salt, then simply pour the paint into the drum. Start the long wash mode, at 40-60С. And that's it! Then, at the end of the cycle, put on a regular wash, with extremely cold water, with the addition of powder and softener. Such a temperature regime will fix the staining result.
After that, take out the thing and drive the machine again. You can put some old rags, or you can empty it. This is necessary to collect the remaining paint from the drum and completely clean it. Also, we do not recommend washing white items immediately, after such a procedure, even after cleaning. The protected - God protects, as they say ...
As you can see, painting jeans in a washing machine is an elementary thing.
What will happen to the paint machine
Absolutely nothing will happen. The machine does not deteriorate from this, does not stain and does not fail. Washing machine paint is much safer than vinegar, for example.
The only thing is that the rubber parts may change color a little. They will just need to be washed later by hand.
How to make dumplings
Dumplings are colored not with paint, but with ordinary, cheap bleach. In order to achieve the effect of mottling and dark stripes, the legs need to be well twisted in a spiral.
You can use rubber bands, and you get the effect of stars and specks. In general, the scope for imagination is huge. Try it! Moreover, fashion is back and such jeans are now quite relevant.
After you have performed the manipulation of curling the fabric, place them in a bucket, add bleach according to the instructions on the package and turn on the gas. They should boil for about 10 minutes.
Then, of course, wash them thoroughly with powder.
How to decorate jeans
The ornament can be applied with acrylic paints or ordinary markers! Choose any color and pattern you want. Acrylic should be applied with a sponge, not in a very thick layer. And the marker is just neat, trying not to go beyond the boundaries of the template.
Let the garment dry for 24 hours, then machine wash it with powder. Now you know how to dye jeans in the washing machine, and we hope you will enjoy the result!
