Sony launched its flagship KD-49XF9005 TV in 2018 on average, and this is the price of a very powerful computer or a domestic car. In this review, we will find out what functions are worthy of attention, is TV worth its money.
Screen
For that kind of money, it’s foolish to expect anything less than the best possible performance. The screen size is 48.5 ”(123 cm). Resolution - 3840 × 2160 pixels (4K Ultra HD) at 100 Hz refresh rate. The picture will be as smooth as possible. The viewing angles are -178 °, this time they are fair. The aspect ratio is classic - 16: 9. The brightness is not exactly known, but by eye it can be said that the screen is very bright, the colors are saturated. HDR10 and Dolby Vision are fully functional. Backlight type Direct LED, which excludes possible light in the dark areas of the screen. There is Local Dimming, which will darken the light areas and, conversely, brighten the dark ones for the perfect balance of image brightness.
Appearance
Externally, the TV looks very beautiful, black, almost no frames. When watching movies, the frames will be difficult to notice - they will simply merge with the environment. It is installed on two angular legs, it is stable, it is unlikely to accidentally overturn it. You can hang the device on the wall - a VESA mount of 200 × 200 mm is provided. All necessary connectors are located on the reverse side. Small niches were made for them, which solved the problem with the "corny" wires.
Connectors
They are located on the back of the case, divided into two blocks. Among them there is an AV input, four HDMI 2.0, three USB, Ethernet (RJ-45), Bluetooth, built-in Wi-Fi module of standard 802.11ac 5 GHz and Miracast., Optical audio output, support for one CI + slot. There is also a 3.5 mm mini-jack for connecting headphones. They, like another headset, can be connected via Bluetooth.
Sound
The sound is clear, loud, powerful. Two 10W speakers each can deliver great sound with good volume, even in large rooms. Software simulation of surround sound is present. To get the most out of your TV experience, we recommend connecting a separate external Dolby Surround 5.1 or 7.1 audio system. Audio decoding - Dolby Digital and DTS.
Functions
It would be strange if this TV did not have a Smart TV on board. Here is the classic Android version 8.0. This operating system has the largest number of programs, applications for itself, so it will certainly not be difficult to find something to your liking. Supports DVB-S / T2, DLNA - you can immediately view any media content from your smartphone or PC. The stream can be rewound and paused (TimeShift function), recorded on an external USB drive. Built-in memory - 16 GB, which is three times more than there are cheaper TVs. It also costs three times as much. 16 gigabytes should be enough for a huge number of programs, applications, but 4K video is unlikely to be saved to an internal drive - it's better to buy an external one. The TV can be controlled from the remote control or by voice, as it was in Xiaomi Mi TV 4S 50... As in Samsung UE49NU7100U, there is also a light sensor here, which will reduce or increase the brightness of the image depending on the illumination of the space around. This TV incorporates Motionflow XR 1000Hz technology.

Verdict
Sony KD-49XF9005 is a premium quality product. The screen reproduces 4K content at the highest level. Color reproduction, saturation and smoothness of the picture, an honest viewing angle of 178 °, excellent sound and everything else is done perfectly - all this the buyer expects to see from the TV for ... All this is there, but there is only a question: why pay more? There are now LG 49SK8000 TVs on the market and Samsung UE49NU7100U, which are at least half the price, and the quality of the picture lags behind quite a bit. They have the same diagonal and the same screen resolution. Samsung's rival even has the same refresh rate. You can recommend this TV for purchase to those people who have an extra 90 thousand, because the price here is clearly inflated. For half the money you can get the same thing. The KD-49XF9005 has no flaws except for a couple of small subjective mistakes, but this TV is not worth the money.
