Sony KD-65XG9505 - Model year, belongs to the ninth line of the manufacturer. The TV did not receive significant innovations in functionality, except for the use of another processor. It has decent technical characteristics, equipment, which allows us to consider it one of the top Sony TVs. I have prepared a review and conducted a comparative analysis with two Sony models from the corresponding price segment. It will help to understand the features of the technique, to better understand its pros and cons.
This model participates in ranking of the best Sony TVs.
Screen
The diagonal is 64.5 ”(164 cm), the resolution is 3840 × 2160. Supports 4K UHD, HDR10, Dolby Vision resolution. The matrix of the screen - TFT IPS, provides uniform black color and excellent color reproduction. Sony KD-55AF8 wins somewhat in the quality of the picture - in terms of color, clarity. This is due to the use of OLED technology, which makes the black color deeper due to the complete disconnection of pixels.
The screen reproduces deep, vivid colors, which makes the picture very clear and realistic. The XI Ultimate processor distinguishes the model from the versions of the eighth line (Sony KD-75XF8596) equipped with X1 Extreme. Therefore, in the described TV, the movements in the scenes are smoother, without abrupt transitions, hitching or jerking due to the control of the pixels. And this despite the refresh rate of 50 Hz. For comparison: Sony KD-75XF8596 has this index of 100 Hz. The latter is equipped with 1000Hz Motionflow XR technology, which creates its own frames to visually smooth out breaks in fast-moving scenes.
The contrast of the TV is excellent thanks to the Object-based technology, which is also implemented in the Sony KD-75XF8596. It controls the contrast of each element on the screen, taking into account the textures and colors of the elements nearby. This allows you to achieve a truly bright and contrasting picture.
The TV provides wide viewing angles (178 °). When viewed from an angular perspective, the picture is not distorted, but the colors lose a little in brightness.
Direct LED backlight, LEDs are located over the entire surface of the matrix. This provides more even illumination. The disadvantage of such backlighting is the large screen width (69 mm). For comparison: the KD-75XF8596 has side illumination, due to which slight glare appears, but the screen thickness is only 54 mm. And the Sony KD-55AF8 doesn't need a backlight at all because of the OLED technology.
Appearance
Dimensions - 1447 × 832 × 69 mm. Weight - 23.5 kg. The moderately thin case has a modern design that does not differ much from other models of the manufacturer. The back wall is covered with a panel under which you can hide the wires. Mounting on a wall with parameters of 300 × 300 mm is provided.
The stand consists of two thin metal legs matching the body color, weighing 1.4 kg, which look quite elegant. But if you compare them with the stand Sony KD-55AF8they lose in elegance. With the stand, the dimensions increase to 1447 x 902 x 333 mm.
Connectors
The TV is equipped with a sufficient number of connectors: AV, SCART, Miracast, 4 HDMI, 3 USB, Ethernet, CI + slot, optical output and for headphones. There is Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Model KD-75XF8596 does not have SCART, but there is still WiDi.
Sound
Sound is provided by two 10 W speakers on the rear wall, which is also typical for Sony KD-75XF8596. Sony KD-55AF8 different sound quality thanks to Acoustic Surface technology, four 10-watt speakers and a 10-watt subwoofer built into the rear panel.
Like all the latest generation TVs of this brand, Dolby Digital and DTS are provided, creating a more realistic, deep sound. Surround sound is provided by the Acoustic Multi Audio system. Thanks to her, the sound can be compared to being in the cinema.
Functions
Smart TV platform - Android 8.0. 2018 models come with an earlier version of Android 7.0. The user gets access to Google Play, an extensive video library.
The manufacturer has modified the remote control. Made it thinner, more modern. It still has buttons for quick access to applications, to the store, etc. There is a record button: with one movement you can record TV shows, clips to an external hard drive. It has 16 GB of built-in memory. Management is possible by voice commands, for which there is a button on the remote control.
You can connect the TV to a network with other home devices, connect a set-top box or a computer to it. It catches Wi-Fi well, does not slow down.
The model is equipped with a timer to go into sleep mode, blocking from accidental switching by children. Consumes 313 W, therefore inferior to the more economical model KD-75XF8596 (272 watts).

Verdict
Price Sony KD-65XG9505 - , it is justified by its equipment and picture quality. KD-75XF8596 with a larger diagonal will cost about the same amount. But this is a 2018 model with a different processor and Android version, which is why it loses a little to the new product. KD-55AF8 worth that makes OLED TV more affordable. The Sony KD-65XG9505 delivers good picture quality with deep, vibrant colors, without the flare found in the 75XF8596. The sound is inferior to the KD-55AF8 due to the presence of the latter two additional speakers and a subwoofer. Although buyers who did not have the ability to compare, praised the sound quality of the TV in question.
